How to Save Time when Publishing Your Newsletter

How to Save Time when Publishing Your Newsletter

Today I have a very quick tip for you, and it’s about how to save time with your newsletters. As you read this right now I’m not actually writing it. I’m recording it. I’m recording it because I can speak much faster than I can type.

Don’t get me wrong. I can type. I am a very good three or four finger typist, but I tend to make many errors, which means I spend a lot of time going back correcting those errors. However, if I record straight into my laptop an audio file, speaking clearly, speaking slowly, I have no mistakes. I have no errors, and I can produce an audio file which very simply then gets sent off to be transcribed. This is how I am doing this newsletter right now, and it’s how I do many of the blog posts on my website.

Good idea. What do you think?

Here’s how it saves time for me. I remember a month or two ago I came across a news article, and I thought that that was a great article for me to then reply to and make a blog post. However, I didn’t have time to make that blog post. So I got back to the office, grabbed my microphone, powered up the laptop, and recorded a five and a half minute audio file.

That audio file became a 500 or 600 word article. How? Simple. I record the program using free software called Audacity. You can find it at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/. Free software. Microphone plugged in. I record my audio file. I save it as a wav file, .wav or as an mp3.

Then I upload it to Speechpad.com. I have multiple options. They can do an overnight for me, or they can do a seven day turnaround. Of course, the seven day costs a little less. Good idea.

So with some careful planning and some pre-thought, I can have numerous newsletters, numerous blog posts, numerous articles all literally pre-written. All I have to do is come up with the idea and speak the words. It’s a great way to save time on what you’re doing as I am right now.

That’s my thought for the day. You have a fantastic one, and I’ll talk to you again real soon.

Have a great day 🙂
