How to choose a good domain name.
There are many key factors that can come into play when it comes to being able to choose a suitable domain name for your business, the least of which (believe it or not) is relying upon the weight of your actual business name!
Yes. True. One of the greatest failures that I see time and time again is people going online and registering a domain name that is the same as their “business name”.
In today’s domain names podcast I’ll be discussing the pros and cons for a dozen different considerations you should weigh before finalizing your domain name decision.
These will include the following -
- Should your domain name be representative of you?
- Is it representative of your industry?
- How much should you consider your location?
- Should your domain name represent your product or service?
- How about the Dot com vrs dot net debate? (What about org / info / net / me / mobi / biz etc etc ad nauseum)
- Which is best: shorter or longer? (23 vs 63)
- Should we RunOurWordsTogether.com or space-them-out.com
- What about the 1st Option in Directories?
- How important are Keywords in domain names? Are they essential?
- Has your domain name been used before?
- What about “stop words” words like ‘the’ ‘is’ ‘at’ ‘my’ etc.
Must be easy to remember easy to spell, and easy to type!
Enjoy!
