World Internet Summit Australia with Paul Barrs Pt6

Alexa will give you information like their traffic ranking, according to Alexa. It’s only based upon the hundreds upon hundreds or there may be millions of users who have the Alexa toolbar.

What is their traffic ranking. If someone says to you, “Got a great product for you, joint venture,” and you can see that they ranked one-million plus, to say, “Don’t waste your time” is not correct. But to say, “Find a better opportunity,” would be correct. Be kind and courteous at all times. ….

How do you go about getting joint venture prospects if – and please accept this the right way – you don’t have a name like I do. To those folks in my Internet community, who know already about what I do, I send an e-mail, I get a reply.

Who do you do it, though? How did I do it three years ago? “There’s this moron from Australia contacting me. Delete, delete.”

How do you get a good-quality contact with a joint venture partner if you don’t know who they are or they don’t know who you are? How do you get them to read your e-mail? Suggestions? ….

One overriding philosophy that I had the entire time, I’m sitting at home, it’s a two-bedroom box, literally. I hated the place. My wife is in bed behind me, sound asleep, for 18 hours a day. I’m sitting in the bedroom, typing very quietly, so I don’t disturb her. You don’t want to disturb a woman when they’re sleeping. I can tell you that one now. Typing very quietly, to try and build this. No experience, no university education, no clue whatsoever, until I saw someone who gave me some videos I could watch on my computer of how to do it. Almost as good as having them there. I didn’t have the money to go and pay someone else. I had to learn it myself.

Sometimes, not every page that you create, even if you’re using the tools that we’ve had a look at already this weekend, not every page will be accepted and into those first page positions in the first month. Follow up. Use good reporting tools. I use Web Position Goals Reporter for that information. It’s the only thing that I use it for. It’s a great tool. I can put in my pages, put in my keywords, it will search them, and it will give me a result. “Here’s what page these things appeared on in the search engine.”

Speaker: I guess I’m here to introduce our next speaker, Paul Barrs. Fantastic Paul Barrs. I’ve got a comment to make about Paul. Until a couple of weeks ago, I didn’t actually know who Paul was. I’d seen him on the World Internet Summit website. I’d seen what he can do. I’d certainly heard stories about what he does, but I generally didn’t know him.

Looking at the website, reading what he did and listening to the conference calls, I have to say I was riveted. Who heard Paul on some of the conference calls? Wasn’t he interesting? Absolutely.

And you know the best part about it? He’s an Aussie, and he’s doing it. Because a lot of us here are thinking, “God, we’re Australians. I don’t know about this American Internet marketing stuff.” We’ve learned so much from them already, who would agree? The Americans are just phenomenal. Particularly in the marketing, they’re about 10 years ahead. There’s so much, as Australians, I think we can learn anyway.

Product Creation Secrets 9: A few thoughts on Marketing

However you came up with your concept and original idea, you did your initial research to determine if there was a marketplace for your new product, right? Once you’d done that you took things that one step further and found your potential customers and began to survey them to find out *exactly* what it was that they might want in a product of the type that you were creating.

You did that didn’t you? Of course. Because by now you’d know that if you were to shortcut any of the process then this final step of marketing is going to be nothing but a hard-slog battle where you’ll feel like you’re walking uphill the whole time.

However, you did what you had to do and have found a ready and willing marketplace, a “room full of buyers” so to speak; you’ve asked them what type of problems they’ve been experiencing with similar products, you’ve asked them what they would want different and you’ve even asked them how they would like it to be delivered to them afterwards.

Product Creation Secrets 8: Choosing Your Format

It’s the final step, you’re almost there – all you need to do it put your product together and you’re off and running. So go for it, what’s stopping you?

Just one thing –

As with any part of the process, you should never launch into it without first consulting your prospective customers; and how do we do that? We ask!

Product Creation Secrets 7: How to Make Your Products Last Forever

I was talking to a fellow at a seminar some time back who was looking for new product ideas to kick-start his business after 6 months away from it. He told me how in the past he’d released a couple of eBooks that enjoyed moderate success and so therefore had a small customer database that he could begin promoting to immediately. After hearing what he had to say I suggested that he repackage his eBooks and add on an up-sell through a joint venture.

Nice idea, but there was one problem – his previous products dealt with the explanation and promotion of specific niche marketplace programs and applications that had “evolved” significantly in recent time, meaning, he could no longer sell his products individually because they were “out of date”! Ouch.

Product Creation Secrets 6: How to Determine Your Products Purpose

But what about the back-end? What about the inbuilt referral program? What about the lead capture and up sell? Before you begin creating / writing / developing your product you must being with the end in mind. You need to ask yourself, *how* will they (your customers) access and consume it (online / downloadable / printable copy). You need to ask what type of platform it will be delivered on (web only / iPod / eBook Reader). You need to ask *what* are your customers going to want to do once they’ve read it / consumed it / used it. You’ll need to ask yourself, “How can I bring them back for repeat business?”

All of these questions should come into play *before* you begin creating your product. In a nutshell, the ‘end’ that you should ‘have in mind’ for your product must push well beyond the consumption of the product and deep into the future. Always seek to create something that delivers more than a once off purpose.

Product Creation Secrets 5: How to Determine if Your Idea is a Good One

There is certainly some truth in the old well worn phrase “There’s gold in them there hills.” Yep, there sure is. By the same token, ‘If there ain’t no gold, ain’t no point in climbing up them damn hills in the first place!’

Wouldn’t it have made things so much easier for those old time prospectors if they could have seen deep into the ancient depths of prosperity before they started digging? How about before they set up camp? On thinking about it, if I was one of them, I’d want to know where the gold was well before I even left home!

Wouldn’t you?
